St Anthony's R.C. Primary School
When we refer to Student Wellbeing we refer to our learners’ physical, social, and emotional development. This is so important, as learners will find it difficult to engage in learning programs if they are distracted by significant physical, social, and emotional issues.
Our staff, therefore, play an important role in fostering engagement and wellbeing so that each student can achieve their best and enjoy their educational experience.
Schooling provides a foundation for young learners’ intellectual, physical, social, moral, and spiritual development. By providing a supportive and nurturing environment, St Anthony’s contributes to developing students’ sense of self-worth, enthusiasm for learning, and optimism for the future.
St Anthony's RC Primary School is committed to upholding the vision of the Catholic Church of a community serving humanity.
St Anthony's RC Primary School is an English medium school which caters for learners from Grade R to Grade 7 prides itself on being an all-inclusive school where a diverse group of learners happily interact with each other and display a respect for all people irrespective of race, culture or religion.
The values of truth, justice, and tolerance are instilled in a loving, caring, and sharing atmosphere whilst striving towards academic, cultural, and social excellence in every learner.
The Holy Cross Sisters who were based in the Convent in Main Road, Diep River saw the need to provide education opportunities for the children of the mostly fishermen who lived in the area, and in 1916, St Anthony’s R.C. Primary School was established.
The school which offered catholic education to the less-fortunate families in the area was aptly named after St Anthony, who is the patron saint of the poor. Saint Anthony, also known as the saint of the people, is known to be called upon through prayer to intercede with God when items have been lost.
Due to the Group Areas Act, the Sisters were forced to seek land elsewhere to build a new school and in 1963 the last group of children relocated to the new building in Gordon Road, Heathfield where it is currently situated. Although the school initially served children from the area, the school has expanded and serves learners from other underprivileged areas like Grassy Park, Mitchells Plain, Capricorn, and Retreat

We, the St Anthony’s Community, believe that the education of the child is dependent upon a sound relationship between the parent and the teacher. Parents are encouraged to work collaboratively with the teacher to grow the child holistically.
